Warning

Well, I guess there ain’t many of you, but if you happen to be a parent considering taking your child to see Bridge to Terabithia:

DON’T.

Unless said child is at least 30 and very emotionally mature.

Not that it’s a bad movie. It’s fantastic. It’s just nothing at all like the trailer leads you to expect. It is not a happy heroic fantasy movie pitched somewhere between Narnia and the Neverending Story. It’s not about fantasy at all, really. And out of four reasonably cynical people I saw it with this afternoon, three of us were crying through the entire final third of the movie. And I checked, and the fourth actually *is* made of stone. I hate to think what a ten year old kid would make of it.

Damn good movie, though.
